NICHIDO minerals precision eye pencil

During my last visit at watson, I came across the Nichido stand and  noticed a new product in their eye pencils collection. Since i was on the look out for a great eye liner, i decided to give this one a try.  I bought 2 shades. Chesnut brown for my brows and Black ebony to define my eyes. As soon as I used them I was wowed by it soft and creamy consistency which gives me so much ease during application {no need to tug your eyelids because it do glides easily} . You must apply it on your brow very lightly because it really has this amazing pigmentation.

do like about Nichido minerals precision eye pencil:

  • creamy consistency and a bit soft that's why it's very easy to apply
  • amazing pigmentation
  • affordable

do hate:

  • smudge off easily
  • some traces goes to my crease after several hours of wearing {without primer}
will i repurchase?
  • yes. the fact that it is very pigmented and glides on easily on my lids and has super affordable price, this eye pencil is a winner for me.

Vince Andrei's baby festive baptismal invitation

Last thursday, i received a phone call from miss mars asking me if i could accommodate a rush order of baptismal invitation. Fortunately, i just finished a wedding project at that time meaning my schedule was free so i gladly said yes.

Mars emailed me the layout of the invitation, it was all blue. I made some changes on the original layout and added some colors on the design to make it look a bit more festive.

I was a bit worried while doing these invites though, because there was a full blown storm at that time. I was worried kung parno ako magpapadeliver dahil sa baha. Thank God because by the time i finished the invites, typhoon falcon has moved its way out of the Philippines area of responsibility and i was able to shipped them on time :)

Mike & Zarina's cute and fun design wedding invitation

My inspiration to make this cute and fun design for Mike and Zarina's wedding invitation was their happy personalities  and the font of the banners that they were holding in their prenuptial photos..

The uneven position of the text boxes, the child handwriting font and the caricature make this 6 panel fan style wedding invitation more interesting and fun to look at.

All wordings were provided by the couple.

Mike sent me a scanned copy of manually hand drawn location map which he personally did. So cute!

At the back of each page is a vectorized silhouette image of Mike and Zarina. Mike sent me the black and white version but he wanted it in blue green so I still made some color adjustments.

Bobbie Nail Polish Hot Collection in patent blue

Whenever i feel bored, sad, lazy, tired..one of my fave perk-me-up is a good mani and pedi. Over the years, i have perfected giving myself a manicures and pedicures at home. DIY mani and pedi is like a therapy to me. not only does it releases stress it also helps me save money since i like changing nail colors weekly. Imagine how much will it cost me if i will have it done weekly in the salon..yay! magrereklamo for sure si husband.

Yesterday, while watching afternoon teledrama, i glanced at my nails and found my purple nail polish chipping off. Damn. I hate chipped off nails. I took my mani-pedi stash, grabbed the bottle of bobbie nail polish remover and a small cotton ball and removed all pesky traces of my old nail polish. After checking my stash, i decided to give my nails a color that will perfectly match the cold, rainy weather..blue! so i choose bobbie nail polish hot collection in patent blue. It's basically a traditional royal blue color which i love because it compliments on my skin.

Among the local brands of nail polish, Bobbie is what i like best especially their hot collections. Aside from being inexpensive {cost only Php 32.50}, i think they are the one more likely to be toxin free because they don't contain toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate.

Just a few FYI regarding the three common toxic nail polish ingredients:

Toluene
Toluene is a human reproductive and developmental toxin. It may affect the nervous system with symptoms like tiredness, confusion, weakness, drunken-type actions, and memory loss. It is thought to cause liver damage and skin irritation. In high levels it may affect the kidneys. Toluene has been linked to birth defects in laboratory animals.

Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is a carcinogen and a common indoor air pollutant because its resins are used in many construction materials. Formaldehyde has caused cancer in the nose and throats of lab animals. Inhaling the fumes can result in watery eyes, headache, burning in the throat, and labored breathing.

Dibutyl Phthalate
Phthalates are used to soften plastic, and are known to affect hormone function. Studies have linked phthalates to early puberty in girls and low sperm counts in men. Environmental groups claim phthalate exposure may contribute to the rising number of uterine problems in women and testicular cancer in men. It could also be one of the contributing factors to a rise in infertility in both sexes. Repeated and heavy exposure to dibutyl phthalate may cause nausea and/or vomiting, tearing of the eyes, dizziness, and headache. Long-term exposures may cause damage to kidneys and the liver. Pregnant women must consider that dibutyl phthalate may harm the developing fetus and the male testes.

Chef Chow's Shabu-Shabu Express

These are shabu shabu from Chef Chow's Shabu-Shabu Express, my newest favorite food! :) You can find it in the food court of SM Taytay. I discovered this amazing food cart last Friday while looking for a drink. yes, i was thirsty and just needed something to drink . I had no intention at all to eat during that time. But when i passed by their stall, i got so curious about these cute and delicious looking little crab meat balls so i decided to bought a bowl to try. And oh my, it really was delicious!!! The taste of the soup was great which reminds me of the mami from the old mami house in pasig na madalas kong merienda when i was a kid.
When I came home, i immediately told this great food discovery to my husband and how i instantly fell in love with its taste that is why, last night, i made a come back trip to SM taytay with my two awesome boys!

Smoking ban in public places of metro manila

Last sunday, May 29, I was delighted by the article from Yahoo! Philippines News about the smoking ban in public places in metro manila. Haaay sa wakas napansin din! Naimplement na dapat to nung 2003 pa!!

Authorities in the Philippine capital Manila on Sunday announced a drive to strictly enforce a smoking ban in public places across the sprawling metropolis.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that from Monday it would deploy policemen and specially trained enforcers across the city of 12 million people to round up violators.

"We must be very strict in implementing our anti-smoking regulation," agency chairman Francis Tolentino said in a statement.
"We should transform Metro Manila into a smoke-free community."

The announcement took effect last monday and violators will be fined P500 on first offense, while those who cannot afford to pay will be made to do community service.
This is goodnews because i am the first person who really hate cigarette because first, the smell  of the nicotine sucks! second, it's a huge threat to our health {think CANCER}, third, just a waste of money, fourth, the effects to our beauty is awful {think yellow teeth and nails, wrinkles, eyebags, damaged hair and blackish lips..eww}.
I just hope that the authorities will be stricter in implementing this rule this time. God please help us from being a second hand smoke victim.

purple..purple...purple.

Is purple your favorite color? Well me, it is! or should I say one of my favorites along with carnation pink, and tiffany blue. So, to justify my love for the color, I did some research about it and here are the few things i've learned about P-U-R-P-L-E.

Purple has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank.
Purple was the favorite color of Egypt's Cleopatra..{meron pala kaming something in common, cool..}
Purple  is the distinctive color for Divinity. It is also worn by high academic officials (University President, Head of Faculty, Rector, etc.) regardless of the field in which they graduated.
Purple is the color of mourning for widows in Thailand.
The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle.
A purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. Too much purple, like blue, could result in moodiness.
and lastly....the counterpart....Porphyrophobia is fear of the color purple.

Midnight snack attack!

Last night, my husband came home late because of office bowling tournament and  brought a large grilled chicken sandwich and fries from Pizzeria Napoli. He offered fries to Jairos who was busy watching Gnomeo and Juliet at the time pero dedma :) When he finished the whole meal, tska naman nag-asked ng fries si Jairos. Since wala ng fries, nagwala tuloy ang bagets! Kaloka! So, what a better way to ease a rumbling stomach of a crying kid craving for french fries..dial 8McDO!

Mung Bean Sprouts and its health benefits

I love togue! I love how it add light sweet flavor and slight crunch to a vegetable dish. But did you know that aside from its delicious taste, it also has a tremendous nutritional benefits to our body!cool.

Bean sprouts{mung bean sprouts} are the tender, edible shoots of certain bean plants. Bean sprouts are a true concentrate of energy and nutritive principles. Unlike ripe vegetables, whose nutritional value progressively decreases after they have been harvested, bean sprouts retain their nutritional properties until consumed. They are among the richest source of amino acids (for protein), vitamins and minerals, and also contain a good amount of fiber. They contain all types of vitamins (A, B, C, D, E and K), folic acid and are an excellent source of iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and zinc.

Here are some of the lists of its health benefits:
Anemia:  Mung bean sprouts (as well as other types of bean sprouts) are rich in iron, which play a key role in the synthesis of hemoglobin, the protein found in red blood cells.  They are also particularly high in vitamin C, which enhances the absorption of iron from the intestine, thereby helping prevent or treat anemia caused by iron deficiency.
Cardiovascular health:  When associated with a low intake of saturated fats (found in meat, poultry and dairy products), the regular consumption of mung bean sprouts can help reduce the blood levels of LDL-cholesterol due to its content in fiber and lecithin. This effect is beneficial to the heart and vessels, since it helps prevent the development of atherosclerosis, the most common cause of cardiovascular disease.
Constipation:  Due to their high content in fiber, mung bean sprouts can help improve intestinal motility and relieve the signs of constipation.
Hair and nail fragility:  Hair and nail fragility is often the result of certain nutritional deficiencies, especially proteins, vitamins and zinc. Mung bean sprouts contain high amounts of all these nutrients in a readily available form, and hence they are particularly helpful in preventing and treating hair and nail problems.
Liver health:  Mung bean sprouts are an excellent source of lecithin which, besides lowering blood cholesterol levels, helps reduce liver fat, thereby preventing fatty liver, a common liver condition that can result in liver dysfunction.
Menopause:  Mung bean sprouts are rich in phytoestrogens, which have a weak estrogen-like activity. That’s why they can help relieve many symptoms associated with menopause (such as hot flashes and heart palpitations), which are the result of decreased estrogen levels. Phytoestrogens found in mung bean sprouts are also effective in counteracting menopause-related osteoporosis.
Skin anti-aging effect:  It has been shown that phytoestrogens found in mung bean sprouts act on certain estrogen-receptors found in the skin, stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin, which are vital components of the skin’s structure. Therefore, the regular consumption of mung bean sprouts can help prevent many age-related skin changes, including elasticity and moisture loss.
Stress and tiredness:  Mung bean sprouts are a source of readily available energy and other nutrients which are particularly helpful in fighting the signs and symptoms of mental and physical stress and tiredness.
